Do Not dwell On Your Own Troubles

Wednesday night at bible study, our worship leader gave a very powerful testimony. He said that he had been focusing on his own troubles and situation that day, when the Holy Spirit spoke to him. He was told "Don't forget who you are, what you do and who you represent." He was so into his own problems that he could not see the needs of others, thereby, he would not be effective in his ministry. He said later on he was approached by a woman who needed prayer. If he had not allowed those words to make a change, he would have been too caught up in his own problems to meet her need. We cannot be representatives of God if we focus on ourselves. We have to look beyond our own lives and look at what others need, then we will be showing the love of God and doing his will.

Not our will Lord, but your will be done in our lives for as we help others, our needs are met.

Sermon Today From Pastor Tim Slaton

Pastor Tim spoke on Overcoming Storms-How To Go From Storm To Norm

A few of the statements he made today are below:

Look at the storm, realize the storm is not in control and you are not in control. Jesus is in control.

The storm is not to take you down, but for you to rise above it. He used an eagle as an example. During a storm the eagle uses his wings to cause an uplift, thereby flying above the storm.

We have to understand God's love for us-He loves us unconditionally.

Storms come to show what our foundation is like. We are not subject to the storms if our foundation is strong.

In every situation God always makes a way to eacape. We must trust God for that.

Jesus came to lead us, not drive us. The storm drives us.

He spoke on Romans 8:31-What are we saying about our situation.

It matters what we say about our situation, not what others say.

He spoke on Psalm 91:1-2 - What we say about our situation is where we live, for dwelling in Hebrew, meant stake your claim or sit in judgment. Being next to God, everything is all right(shadow). We have to speak. We change our dwelling place by what we say.
